Systemise for Success

If you want your business to run smoothly and to ultimately be able to free up more time for yourself, to focus on developing the business and not just working in it (and also some more free time for family and fun), then you really need to systemise your business.

 

What do I mean by this? The objective is to have all the processes that your business follows to be written down in a manual, in a clear concise way so that anyone can pick up the manual and know exactly what needs to be done to ensure the business will run.

 

I know you cannot systemise passion, a drive for customer service and knowledge of the products and services, but if you have all the processes written down the business will be able to run without you having to do and check on everything. Or, for that matter, if one of your staff is away and someone else has to pick up their job.

 

Below is a fairly comprehensive list of the possible areas you may have in your business. Use this list as a guide to determine what you need to have in your manual. You certainly won’t need all of them and may have a few that are not here but it is a good starting point.

 

Go through each step and clearly write up how the process in each area works. Some may be easy, step by step processes and some may be more general and thinking processes.

 

When these are written up have them in a file where everyone can find it and also remember to keep it up to date.
